We have always believed in being the first in exploring new ideas and this is something that is key to our target audience”, said Lam Swee Kim, General Manager of 8TV who was present at the auspicious launch which took place at The Platinum Movie Suites, Cathay Cineplex Damansara.
The free mobile streaming service is essentially an extension of the popular online Catch-Up TV service available through Wifi and 3G/Edge networks, although for the latter, Telco data charges may still apply.
“It’s convenient, cool and free. What’s not to love?”, claimed Paul Moss, Alt Media’s General Manager of Platforms, Technology, and New Business who was front lining the ceremony earlier.

TV3, NTV7 and TV9 will have similar services rolled out over the next 2 months and the popular entertainment and lifestyle portal, GUA will launch GUA Mobile within the same time period.
Complementing these mobile sites is a mobile News portal and video News alerts service, which allows users to access breaking news from TV3’s News team, with text and video as it happens.
This will take place on September 1st 2009.Mandarin and English mobile news will also be available during the last quarter of this year.
The launch of these mobile services marks another milestone for MPB in digital media. Following on from the success of ‘Catch-Up’ TV online and GUA.com.my, it highlights the Groups intention and commitment to digital media platforms.
