I been following the Malaysian non mainstream scene since late 80's. You call it underground music, alternative now it called indie by some.
I first dived in the deep end of music genre of metal then exploring more alternative sounds and standing proud with the local hip-hop subculture at some point in my life. The struggle was the motivation in getting your voice out to masses. Made it more passionate and satisfying when performances was done. Knowing your hard work and practice paid off at a gig or showcase. Getting a recording deal was silver lining and end of the struggle. But for some it just the beginning that another story....
As individual whom appreciate music these are really savior of Malaysian music as they write, compose and perform songs from their heart. Giving us a diversity that make up this cosmopolitan called Malaysia!
With the internet any young budding artistes can spread their music across world in a blink of an eye. Doing it via web with free tools to choose so from blogs,website to myspace and even you tube. You will find people who appreciate your sound and style.
